Google DeepMind has introduced WeatherNext 3, an upgraded AI model that delivers hourly global weather forecasts using real‑time geostationary satellite data. The system captures fast‑changing conditions like rainfall, cloud movement and storm development with far less lag than traditional six‑hour update cycles. It maps temperature and moisture at 5‑kilometer resolution, improving local accuracy in regions with sparse weather infrastructure. Independent tests show WeatherNext 3 outperforming models from Microsoft, Nvidia and ECMWF. Beyond consumer forecasts, its turbine‑height wind and solar radiation predictions support renewable‑energy planning. Google is integrating the model across Search, Maps, Gemini and Cloud tools.
