About Me

Greetings! I am Mar, an Anglo-Icelandic who has lived in Saigon, Vietnam, for the past 13 years. Homeschooler by weekdays, an ESL teacher by weekend, and in my free time, I study UX. Micro-Masters at the University of Montreal, HEC, where I have completed 5 of the 7 courses required for certification as a UX designer. As a trained master tinsmith, I have 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, purchasing, and logistics. During my five years as director of a small firm, I gained experience in management and accounting. My biggest achievement is raising my children. My interests are illustration, psychology, and history, but I’m committed to lifelong learning. Additionally, I have achieved certification in leadership and management for PM practitioners in IT at the University of Washington and a MicroMasters in UX Design from the university HEC Montreal. During my time as a teacher at Vietnam’s largest language school, I realized the school was not adequately prepared for the full impact of COVID-19 and especially the discord within the school. The goal of my research was to discover how to create a sharing community. In the beginning, I learned using a no-code program, Bubble.io. I realized there had to be more to this than a simple user interface, and that is where I came across and fell in love with the UX concept. I am now embarked on the design of the project in which l intended 3 years ago.
