Critique a Design: Keyboard-First Flow Review

Early preview draft — not yet practitioner or accessibility reviewed.
Goal
Practice finding the interaction failures that never show up in a mouse demo — the missing focus states, the trapped modals, the tab order that jumps like a pinball.
Scenario
Put the mouse away. Complete one real multi-step flow (signup, checkout, posting content) on any live product using only Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Escape, and arrows — and document what you hit.
Audience
The product's design team, who believe the flow works because they've only ever moused through it.
Constraints
Keyboard only, genuinely — no touchpad rescues. Use a real product, not a mockup. At least one full flow, start to finish (or to wherever it becomes impossible).
Deliverable
A findings report: each problem with WHERE it happened, WHAT the keyboard state was (focus invisible? order wrong? trapped? unreachable?), its severity (blocked vs. slowed), and a one-line proposed fix. Plus the single worst finding, called out.

Accessibility requirement
This lab IS an accessibility requirement — the deliverable itself must be a document a screen-reader user could read (real headings, no information carried by screenshot alone).
AI policy
AI use is not allowed for this lab — this measures your own unaided work. The entire point is your own hands on the keyboard hitting real obstacles — an AI cannot take this walk for you.
Rubric
  • Findings are reproducible: Each finding names the exact step and keys — someone else could hit the same issue in two minutes from the description.
  • Severity is honest: Blocked (cannot proceed) and slowed (annoying but passable) are distinguished; not everything is critical.
  • Fixes match the failures: Each proposed fix addresses the named mechanism (visible focus style, order in DOM, escape handler) rather than "improve accessibility."
